What I want this winter

There is so much inspiration out there right now for winter! My mind is in a constant state of confusion as to what I want to wear this winter. Obviously my tartan skirts and cardigans will be my staple, its the best combination since peanut butter and jelly!

But here are some things I feel like ‘trying’ and some things ive had on my list probably since forever!

(click on the photos to go through to the shop)

This leopard coat is purrrrfect! I tried one on last year but it was a little bit different and didnt suit me, but this is going to be great!

I love wear wedges, but sometimes they look so boxy and heavy….but I think these look sleek and uber winter-ey. Plus I love velvet.

This dress is from forever21 in America….so the chances of me getting my hands on this dress are slim. BUT this dress is really nice and would go perfect with those velvet wedges.

The new shoes from Irregular choice are amazing! They are so wacky, but cute enough to go with just about everything.

I have used my Vivienne Westwood bag to death so I definitely need an upgrade and i love the drapery effect of this one!

This muff and turban set….imagine this with the leopard coat?!?! but I cant crochet :(

This adorable pom pom hat!

This bag is amazing! Love it so much…..so cute.

And the one other thing i need is a good pair of gloves. A nice leather tan pair would be perfect!

Romantic and gothic…the perfect couple.

Its my favorite pairing of all time. Romantic black flowing ruffles mixed with Gothic jewels and make-up, what isn’t to love? I’ve put together a few of my favorite runway moments and a few items to inspire this look.

Accumulation of web images

whenever I see images on the internet I save them for a rainy day. Some are inspiring, some make me happy and some are just magical. I thought I’d share. I don’t know where the original homes for these images are, if you know I’d lvoe to know too!

The Greatness that is Westwood

I have been a long time fan of Vivienne Westwood and quite frankly I could ramble about it all day! But I wont as I really don’t want to bore you, I’d rather entertain you. Here are some cool Vivienne images that I’ve found as im always trawling for strange, behind the scenes or just darn fabulous! The best part of Vivienne Westwood is that she is Independent. How many high fashion designers can say that? She makes what she wants which is why her collections can be so controversial. The next best part is, she cares about the environment and encourages everyone to ride bicycles instead of driving cars, reworking your clothing and make do’ and mending! Stop consumerism! Thats one of her messages.  I think its really important in life, that when you buy things you buy quality so it will last. My Nanny has slacks and blouses in her wardrobe that she has had for over 20 years. My Mum has a dinner set that she has had for years it has brown edging with brown toned flowers in the middle, very 70s! Itjust seems to me that the generation of today have a more ‘dispensable’ approach to the things they buy. People buy clothes that they know wont last long and eventually throw away! If I have an old item of clothing I keep all the buttons and zips, then cut it up for scrap. I cant see how anybody could throw away an article of clothing. Oh dear…I’ve managed to ramble! I think I need to do a make do and mend post!

Back to Westwood…Heres a fantastic video from 1988 (my birth year) when she was on a talk show and they mostly ridiculed her collection. I loved to see which of those talk show hosts are still around today! And heres another!

Okay enough for now…off to work on a make do and mend post!

Hello Thursday! I’m so excited about the weekend, there is a public holiday on Monday and I’ve taken tomorrow off as its Kurts birthday. We are going into town for the day and I’m so excited!

I’ve been doing a lot of online clothes shopping this week, only browsing of course! I’ve got an absolute pile of new dog tooth and tartan fabrics that im going to make into garments using a few vintage patterns I’ve acquired lately. Here are some of the prettiest things out at the moment!

So preeeeeeety!

Attack of the Spring closet itch!

Since stumbling across some photos of Catherine Baba wearing differently styled kimono pieces I’ve realized what a clever clever idea! So versatile, girly and superchic! I’m going to hunt down some vintage ones on ebay/etsy and also try Camden markets. I’m going to buy what ever lengths and cut them down to just past the hip and wear over skirts and other such goodness! I do have one kimono style robe but I’m a little scared to attack it with a pair of scissors just yet! I’m going to team it with big necklaces….and I’m not sure what else I think ‘Piling it on’ comes to mind!

Catherine Baba is the ultimate inspiration

I think it also a natural progression to wear get inspired by robes too. I guess the whole underwear as outerwear pops to mind!

How cute would this be over a little tea dress?+heels and socks!

Also the latest from Vivienne westwood…I love.

Also keep your eyes peeled! I am working on two fashion accesory tutorials! Hopefully they will be up in the next week or so

Sockies and Shoesies!

Why does the sock and high heel look never get tired? I’m so in love with mismatching colors and different textures! I’ve recently become addicted to topshop socks! I love lace socks with cute wedges for Spring/Summer!

Here is some pics of what I’m going on about!

This girl is adorable!

These are a bit wintery..but still!

Where on Earth are the Stockings from? So amazing?!?!

Oh and another thing! I want to crimp my hair all spring…socks+heels+crimped hair=AMAZING!

My favorite Vintage accessory-The Tilt Hat

I’m not sure if its the romance or just the pure chic-ness that has me all excited about tilt hats! I’ve been collecting vintage hats for a few years now and I love all different types and from different era’s. But the tilt hat really takes the biscuit. Tilt hats are hats that are supposed to tilt forward on the crown of the head. From the tilt hats I’ve seen they come with either a plain disc or wire ring that sits to the back of the head and supports the frivolous hat at the front. I hope I’m making sense here. I’m going to post some photos now of some very great tilt hats. And hopefully soon enough I can show you a few of my hats, and my very favorite tilt hat!

This one is probably my favorite hat of all time. I love the idea of a mini boater hat, plus the frilling and the chic black and white gingham fabric, not to mention the matching gloves!

Grace Kelly

One of my favorite things to do in London is to go to the Victoria and Albert Museum. They regularly have tremendous exhibitions, I’d say some of the best in London. The last time I went there, they had the Anthology of Hats by Stephen Jones who is a prominent hat designer from London. From April-September they will be having an exhibition on Grace Kelly showcasing 50 outfits (35 of which are haute couture)  plus jewelery, accessories and the famous original Kelly Hermes bag. I believe this is one of those exhibitions that could very much be a once in a lifetime opportunity!
