More Japan research!

I watched memoirs of a Geisha last night and I never get tired of that film. I’ve watched it many a times and also read the book before seeing the film and it is the most beautiful story. Anyway, so I’ve just been re-obsessed with going to Japan…sometimes I get obsessed about going to New York, or Paris or Russia…but I always come full circle back to Japan. I was actually going to move to Japan when I first left high school but then I decided London was the place for me.

Well here are some really cool stores and places that I cant wait to check out.

I’m kind of enjoying getting older and thus maturing…but every once and a while my childlike personality comes through and this store would make me very happy!

Look what I found!

Hello, sorry for my absence things have been a little hectic here in London. The weather has been nice, sunny but still fresh and cool.

Thought I’d share this amazing fabric/project!

I’m definitely getting this fabric….how cute does this pillow look?

Be back soon!

Hey! Told you I’d be back! Here are a load of photos that I’ve been taking on Kurts iphone using the ‘hiptomatic’  app.

As I’m a bit of a gadget novice I find this app so easy to use! You just have to shake the phone to turn into a different ‘theme’ cool huh?

Okayyyyy….going now! Isn’t London pretty? Well it is mostly Hamsptead and Hampstead Heath.

Goodbye now….be back tomorrow with some cute shopping ideas!

They did it again!

Irregular choice have (yet again) made another adorable handbag that I really really really need to have! Its a cool shopper bag, which I prefer for everyday use, as I can throw lots of stuff in there! Sometimes I bring my embroidery projects to work so I like bags that have an open top so the hoop can breath!

Be back soon! xxx

Cat time

I really enjoy doing/buying nice things for my kitty cats….so I just thought I’d share some cool things!

Amazing Artist

I came across this amazing artist the other day and just had to share. Helen works with old farming equipment and turns it into amazing sculptures. It is ofcourse related to recycling, but she is really in it for the art…here are my faves. All photos link back to her site.

Okay I have to go now and beg Kurtis to allow me to have one in my backyard!

Making me smile today

Hi! Well the weather in London can not make up its silly mind! One minute I feel as if its winter and the next it really hot. But since it was cold and raining on the weekend I’m just really inspired by these photos and it makes me want to darn well hurry up with my quilt before it actually IS winter again! I love seeing different decor ideas, and lots of cosy rooms. Plus, I’ve already got my next quilt idea! I’m going to do a traditional Japanese fabric patchwork…just for something different. Apologies for all the winter-ey photos, I cant get out of the winter mindset.

Ah quilts!

Okay going now to look at more fabric and quilt inspiration!

Teacups!

The prettiness that is teacups! Tea parties, tea pots its all so pretty. Here are my favorite pretty teapot inspiration!

From KaptenHenna. I’m planning a teacup tattoo for somewhere on my legs…so preeety!

The most adorable ring, so quaint! From Vintagesque

Cute Necklace from Penelopesporch

Big in Japan

I think there are few people that dont love Japan! Even if you haven’t been to Japan it’s hard not to love EVERYTHING about it! I love watching any films that are set in Japan…every time I watch them I get all romantic about this wonderful country and am certain it will change my life forever when I go! So I thought I’d start blogging about all the cool places and things Japan has to offer so I don’t forget. I’m hoping we can go next year after our visit to Australia!

I’m super sad to find out this place got burned down last year, but good news is they are rebuilding and have a temp studio…phew! I can not wait to be a Maiko!!!

I wanna do all this!

I cant wait to see Dir En Grey…I hope we can catch a show! I missed them last time they were in London, but Kurt saw them and said it was AMAZING!

These girls look amazing!

Tokyo Disneyland! How could you not want to go here?!?!

And last but not least…a pikachu bus!!!

Okay I’m off now to find more fun things in japan….and look at pretty bento boxes!

The Greatness that is Westwood

I have been a long time fan of Vivienne Westwood and quite frankly I could ramble about it all day! But I wont as I really don’t want to bore you, I’d rather entertain you. Here are some cool Vivienne images that I’ve found as im always trawling for strange, behind the scenes or just darn fabulous! The best part of Vivienne Westwood is that she is Independent. How many high fashion designers can say that? She makes what she wants which is why her collections can be so controversial. The next best part is, she cares about the environment and encourages everyone to ride bicycles instead of driving cars, reworking your clothing and make do’ and mending! Stop consumerism! Thats one of her messages.  I think its really important in life, that when you buy things you buy quality so it will last. My Nanny has slacks and blouses in her wardrobe that she has had for over 20 years. My Mum has a dinner set that she has had for years it has brown edging with brown toned flowers in the middle, very 70s! Itjust seems to me that the generation of today have a more ‘dispensable’ approach to the things they buy. People buy clothes that they know wont last long and eventually throw away! If I have an old item of clothing I keep all the buttons and zips, then cut it up for scrap. I cant see how anybody could throw away an article of clothing. Oh dear…I’ve managed to ramble! I think I need to do a make do and mend post!

Back to Westwood…Heres a fantastic video from 1988 (my birth year) when she was on a talk show and they mostly ridiculed her collection. I loved to see which of those talk show hosts are still around today! And heres another!

Okay enough for now…off to work on a make do and mend post!
