I’ve always loved looking at other peoples homes and interior decorating. I especially love photos from past eras such as the 40’s and 50s well anything pre1980’s is pretty fun! I don’t have my own house yet which can be very limiting, but I love collecting nice new and old pieces of furniture and lots of trinkets. It may be little early but I’m always researching homes and interiors so that when that day arrives I will have lots of knowledge and hopefully know exactly what I want!
I am hoping to be living and owning a house in Sydney in the next few years and there are lots of older houses in certain parts of Sydney. I think one has to be mindful of buying such old houses but the things I will be looking for mostly will be the exterior, I want something art deco or ‘cottage’ style. It would look awfully silly having a brand new looking house with 1950s interiors! I think if you look for a fireplace, decorative ceilings and old styled windows you can turn any house into your dream vintage home.
I’ve found a few websites with resources and galleries. I’ve also found a few cool sites for retro appliances, decor and nick nacks’.
My favorite kitchens! I’m loving kitchens with built in booths, so cute for a family!

These kitchens were found here. This is a fantastic site!
For the color scheme I love mint green and pink! Its fun and fresh and totally kitsch!

I would have the walls in the minty green and have the kitchen cupboards and curtains in the pink. Another alternative to painting the walls would be, if I could find some plaid wallpaper, YES I would have plaid wallpaper in a heart beat if I could! As seen in mad men also!
As for appliances I love the Aga ovens and Smeg fridges!

I love this website for dishwashers! Realistically though, I think you would have to stick to one brand for all appliances others they would be all different shades of green! If it were black you were after then I’m sure you could mis and match!
For small appliances there are some great shops in the U.K and most brands are producing some great retro looking appliances! Try Here for toasters and kettles. If you want the cream of the crop then try here.
Etsy and Ebay are the best places to find vintage kitchenware. Here are some things I found on etsy!

I’ve been thinking so much lately about all the things I really want to spend some much time on next year. Of course there are so many, but I’ve decided 2010 will be the most productive year yet!
This year I started my Etsy shop, which I love, but I haven’t nearly begun to really explore my creativity! I have so many ideas, most I which I forget before I get to a pen and paper ,thank-you fish brain! But its also trying to find more and more time to make these things plus all the other things I enjoy doing in life for example Baking! I did, however, gain much better sewing skills this year I’ve actually made a few bags in recent weeks and even sold one on Etsy. I took up knitting again, and on the weekend I had my first go at needlepoint! I loved it! So next year will be about learning more and more skills and becoming really good at things. Last night I even sat down for hours drawing a picture, and I think it actually looks nice!
Here are some things I will be Buying/looking at/loving next year to help me on my little way:
1. I’ve been eying off this book for a long time, But I think I’ll need a beginners book or watch some you tube videos first!

2. Become as good at embroidery as Jenny Hart, yes this is probably impossible! So amazing!

3. I want to make a patchwork quilt for our new bed, It’s between log cabin or just plain 5″ squares.

4. Fabric buttons! I started making these a few weeks ago and they are so much fun! On the weekend I stitched a little heart on to some calico and made it into a button. Will post photos later.

Well, thats just a few things for now. I’ll surely put up more projects when I remember what they were!

I watched this movie late last night, and absolutely fell in love! Meryl Streep is one of my all time favorite actresses, and she plays the most quirky character, Julia Child. From the cooking to the down right cuteness of the film, definately my favorite Drama I’ve watched this year. Cosying up on the couch one Sunday evening with this movie will make you so happy!
Here is a Trailer.

Hi! So on the weekend I got to work on sorting out my sewing area for good! No, I dont know if it will stay this tidy, but I am very happy to have everything sorted. Kurt put up the shelves and memo board for me, just for some extra space. Its nice to have shelving so I can put all my things out and remember what I have. I constantly forget what things I have and what I bought them for originally!

In other news, I’ve started making fabric buttons for my Shop and they are soooo much fun to make! I’ve also listed a cute bow and a Kwaii style brooch.
Enjoy!

Hi! I’m really excited about the ‘where the wild things are’ film that is coming out soon! I’m sure I’ve read this book when I was a little girl, the front cover of the book looks so familiar. Kurt and I went to forbidden planet on Saturday and they have the coolest toys there! I got one of the Kubrick blind boxes (in so obsessed with blind boxes). I also bought another yummy breakfast and got the orange, yummy!
So I thought I’d share some books with you that I read when I was younger…

My complete favorite would definitely be Roald Dahl, I must of read BFG over 10 times. Witches was really good, I remember being quite scared!
The Rainbow Fish. I think I used to love this book so much because through out the book all his scales are foiled/shimmery. I used to love reading it.

Who didn’t love Where’s Wally? Okay so its not really reading, but it was still FUN! I used to love the ballroom scenes, So I could look at the pretty dresses!

Welcome to dead house. I read loads of Goosebumps but this was one I read a few times. Also I love Say Cheese and Die…Again

Well, I’m off now. I’ve taken some photos of my newly organized sewing area which I shall post tonight or tomorrow! Kurt put up my shelves and memo board so I’m very excited about my little space. On Sunday I made lots of felt decorations and also made a pudding plush, its not perfect but it makes you laugh! I’ll post lots of pictures soon!

I got a tiny bit over-excited about my citron macaron
I went to Paris on the weekend and had the most amazing time. The city is so full of history and beautiful buildings. I nearly wanted to cry when a French lady said “Merci”, I was like finally I’m in Paris! The Eiffel tower was so much bigger than I expected, Notre dame was beautiful and of course the Louvre was everything you would expect. The best experience of course was going to La Duree. We had the most gorgeous hot chocolate and the most amazing dessert I’ve ever even looked at. I bought a box of macarons that came in this gorgeous box that I will keep forever and ever! Paris is the perfect romantic city!

My La Duree goodie bag
I’ve spotted a few adorable things online today, so thought I’d share!

I’m not a HUGE mushroom fan, but this journal and plume pen set is so cute!

We’ve already got the titanic and space invaders tray now I need more! These tiki heads would be perfect for silly luau parties.

This is so adorable!!!! Lollipop brooch, why didn’t I think of that?

This is so exciting! I’ve always loved with Jane Austen’s pride and prejudice, and this book puts you right in it! its silly, but totally cute!

This is definitely on my wish list for Christmas, actually I might have to go out and by one BEFORE then!

Its getting mighty cold London now, so I’m in need of a good little milk pan, this one looks perfect!
Got to go now, home time! x
